Students have been hard at work on place value. We've been practicing writing numbers through 1000 in standard form, expanded form, word form and picture form. Please make sure your student practices! It's easy to confuse place values.
We're getting back into addition and subtraction! This time we are gearing up for two digit addition and subtraction problems. Students are working on making groups of tens and hundreds to help them do quick addition and subtraction. Have them practice making tens while they are solving their homework problems. It is also very important that students are able to explain how they got their answers. Talk to your student while they are working on their homework. Ask them how they got their answer and what strategy they used. Students are expected to be able to write about this on tests. Keep an eye out for journal prompts, too! They are great practice.
